Fear
Fear is concern about what is going to happen in the future. We are often fearful about what might or might not happen to ourselves and the people, places and things that are important to us.
Our concern is about whether we are going to get what we want or what we don’t want. This is the Personal View. There seems to be a lot to be fearful about. We can be frightened about what might happen to us and our family, our jobs, finances, children and health. We can also be frightened by politics, disasters, diseases, crime, wars and even the weather. In the Personal View there seems to be no relief from being fearful.
With the Spiritual View there is a way to be fearless.
We begin by identifying our fearful thoughts about the future. Then we can recognize that our thoughts are about a future which has not happened and may not even occur. We can then see that this disturbs our life, and we regret it. We can then turn to the Spiritual View by asking: “What spiritual quality do we need right now?” With receptivity to spiritual ideas that meet our needs, fearful thoughts are replaced with peace, assurance and gratitude.
This is not a “one and done” event, it is a moment by moment awareness that grows in our lives as we turn to the Spiritual View whenever fearful thoughts arise.
With an understanding of the Spiritual View we are fearless.
